Always find it baffling far more people know what to do with a suspected heart attack but not when I have a seizure in public, considering the latter’s more common (I’m fine).

Focal/partial seizure - they seem out of it, in a very deep daydream, often with repetitive movements, such as opening/closing mouth, making noises (I blink a lot)
DO
- guide them away from danger
- stay with them til they come to
- talk calmly with them until they respondShow this thread -
- when they recover, tell them what happened DON’T - try and startle them out of it, with loud noises or by shaking them - give them food or drink while they’re seizing - restrain them

Quite often, people having seizures might appear blackout drunk or tipsy. But you should help people regardless of need and can perform welfare checks quickly.https://twitter.com/dawnhfoster/status/1066695540929368065?s=21 …

Don't move them unless they are in danger where they are, and don't hold them down

An overarching piece of advice is to time seizures. Not every needs a doctor, not a hospital visit. But possible broken bones and skullsshould be checked out. And status epilepticus, a serious, life-threatening conditio, isa risk when the brain seizes for over five minutes.

Where possible, let the person w/ epilepsy guide you & give them as much input as possible into the help/treatment they’re given. I’m never grateful for men patronising me & telling me my seizures look serious & I’ll thank them for calling 999. I don’t. Nor do the paramedics.

there are different types of seizure
“thrashing” tonic-clonic seizure. They fall to the floor unconscious, jerking limbs, might bite their tongue:
DO
- cushion their head
- move objects away
- put them in recovery position
DON’T
- put anything in their mouth
