Quite. It’s disturbing that these ‘win or lose’ debates have become part and parcel of the electoral process, as if debating ideas and issues were like arm-wrestling. It’s partly driven by tv, I think; the need for a verbal punch-up that makes for ‘good tv’ Piers Morgan style
