It’s not just a stupid thing to say, it is dangerous form of othering that is part of the Trumpian discourse.

It’s really not, John. It’s about holding political and moral convictions: knowing MPs have willingly inflicted harm and suffering on people, how can you be friends with them? Why would you be?

It’s a false proposition that Tory MPs have wilfully inflicted harm and suffering. And you know exactly where this sort of sectarian rhetoric leads.

They’ve been told repeatedly what the impact of their policies are, including by the UN, and ignore them. This isn’t “sectarianism”, normal people wouldn’t go for a pint with them.

Normal people vote for them and support them. Are Tory voters and supporters anathematised too?

He didn’t say that, did he? He specifically mentioned the Tory MPs: says he’ll work with them, be civil to them, but cannot be friends with them because of their voting record. Nothing wrong with that at all. Now bore off or threaten to fight me in Peckham, as per.
