There was a point a few months ago when the coordinated vitriol against trans people meant that the usual rule, let people speak for themselves, ceased to apply. People claimed women, especially feminist women, were at risk due to trans rights becoming more accepted.

I don’t write about race or LGBT rights generally, but there really is no conflict between fighting to end the oppression of women, and fighting for trans people to be safe and accepted. Not in my name, this spiteful, dishonest campaign.

however Dawn, I ask you earnestly, what do you think of the fact that a man can suddenly identify as a woman and be allowed into women only spaces. Tomorrow I could don a frock, call myself Antonia and be sent to Holloway. Genuinely interested in your view.

You couldn’t. That’s a flat out lie. Each case is looked at by a special cases review panel. Do some reading.

I googled, which you could have done if you were serious about understanding the issues at hand, rather than making very puerile jokes, and found this. https://researchbriefings.parliament.uk/ResearchBriefing/Summary/CBP-7420 …

And I was actually after your opinion which I have always respected in the past. Let’s draw the line and forget I asked. I spoligise unreservedly. God bless.

Ian Huntley, so you know, is in a men’s prison. The only info available online is a spuriously sourced anonymous quote from a former prisoner. But surely he’d just have been able to don a frock and gain entry to a women’s prison, you said?

I don’t think making silly, flippant comments with no research is any way for a deacon to act online, and I’d hope you’d be more serious and sensitive with anyone in your church who came to you worried about their gender.
