As a feminist, I support trans people’s rights to live without discrimination. The government deadline for submissions to the Gender Recognition Act consultation has been extended until noon on 22nd October. There was a point a few months ago when the coordinated vitriol against trans people meant that the usual rule, let people speak for themselves, ceased to apply. People claimed women, especially feminist women, were at risk due to trans rights becoming more accepted.

I don’t write about race or LGBT rights generally, but there really is no conflict between fighting to end the oppression of women, and fighting for trans people to be safe and accepted. Not in my name, this spiteful, dishonest campaign.

You are not a feminist if you think that refusing to define women by gender stereotypes means reducing women to their biology; it’s simply that biology is the only innate difference between male & female ppl. Gender, that you uphold, is responsible for the misery of your friends.
