Just had an incredible row with a posh guy in Clapham, where I told a homeless guy I had no cash but if he wanted anything in the shop, I'd get it. He asked for a can of Stella, I got him two, and the bloke tried to grab them off me.

I'm rubbish at carrying cash (ask my church) but when I can afford it I ask homeless people if I can get something on card: mostly they ask for sandwiches, milkshakes, coffees, but I don't begrudge them asking for booze/cigs because I enjoy them too. And Lord knows they need joy.

Yep, have had friends and family with alcohol dependency and withdrawal is life threatening. Horrendous.

lovin your stance Dawn and good for you on your public display of standing by them whilst supporting the 'poor' bloke. Hate the so called principled sorts with the faux "deep understanding of the issues" thank youThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

It's the "them" part of that statement that's so offensive. As though homeless people are just one homogeneous mass and not individuals all with their own story and struggles. Snobby bastard
