I'm not on the advertised Scottish Parliament Festival of Politics panel tomorrow alas: at the last minute, they said they hadn't booked me a train, despite making me fill in a huge form with details of the ticket I needed. I couldn't pay up front and claim back, so I can't go.

Also, most people don't really want to do talks. The fewer emails you get about them, the better. I have pulled out before because the organiser has emailed unnecessary stuff every day and demanded answers. This is work, and you aren't paying me for it.

Most of the people I do talks for are brilliant. They're small charities/political groups/people making a difference. They're professional, to the point, and make me feel welcome and I happily talk unpaid. It's the small number of big orgs that turn it into an ordeal and are rude
