For context, roughly 25% of our total national debt incurred over the last 230 years actually occurred during the 4 years of the Trump administration. That's right. 25% of our entire national debt, all during the Trump years.

House Republicans are on a mission to end wasteful Washington spending. From now on, if a federal bureaucrat wants to spend it, they have to come before us to defend it.

Today is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. I am eternally grateful for the courageous men and women who protect our American communities at the expense of their own lives. I will always Back the Blue.

I don’t think this would go over very well.

On a personal note, I’ve had a great week coming off of Christmas and New Year’s. I hope everyone else did too. Got my thoughts together. Clear mind. Good sunshine ☀️ weather. Ate better. Ran more. Behaved. Well behaved more than usual. It’s good to regroup every now and then.

I’m beginning to think this election is rigged. They should consider calling in the My Pillow guy to audit the votes. Or maybe they should just vote for him.

You’re not in a good negotiating position when everyone you are negotiating with knows your willing to do/give whatever it takes to win. What if he does give enough to get enough of the holdouts’ vote? There is always that “last” new person who then is empowered to negotiate.

From @WSJopinion: Kevin McCarthy was willing to weaken the speakership to win it. If he’d spent more time working with rational lawmakers to get like-minded candidates elected, he wouldn’t have ended up in this position, writes @WillHurd. on.wsj.com/3Qkh7ex

And where’s the protagonist in this drama? It’s antagonist vs. antagonist. I mean come on. Who are we all supposed to be rooting for here.

Y’all just think about how great things would be if there were more Independents in Congress. Right now, if there were 5-10 of them in the House, they would effectively be in charge without all the party baggage. And in the Senate, it would only take 2-3 to run that chamber.

I don’t personally know these main characters in this ordeal (McCarthy, Gaetz, Boebert, etc.) but they do all seem like they deserve each other.

Lying has become such a common part of politics that we've just baked it into our understanding of how politics works. George Santos is an extreme case, but more and more, people shrug it off: "Of course politicians lie." It doesn't have to be that way. It shouldn't be that way.
