What I have noticed all over is that news media are doing a lousy job of balanced coverage on critical criminal justice reform stories

This isn't that hard. Look .
@sfexaminer did an honest and fair story here.https://www.sfexaminer.com/news/a-mother-murdered-by-her-son-in-san-francisco-did-chesa-boudin-do-the-right-thing/ …Show this thread -
They ask a reasonable question: “Did Boudin botch this case, or did he do what any other DA might have done in similar circumstances?” I think the answer is that .
@chesaboudin largely did the right thing hereShow this thread -
“Three experts who examined Daniel testified that the crime resulted from severe mental illness, according to court documents.

"Dr. John Shields testified that Daniel suffered from schizoaffective disorder as well as Capgras syndrome, which is the delusional belief that an impostor has replaced a loved one.”

John Gudino, Daniel’s father and Betty’s ex-husband, sees her death as the tragic conclusion of their son’s descent into mental illness.

“We did feel he should have been in the hospital at that time,” said Gudino. “As his mother and father, and knowing the symptoms and what was happening during that time, the paranoia, the delusions … many factors go into realizing his state.”

Here’s the real problem with a lot of these - when I read the Knight piece and when I read the LA Times Reisig piece and when I read the OC Register piece, I knew that the full story was not being told here. It took me a little time to track it down and get a fuller story out.

The mainstream media is supposed to be unbiased and impartial. But when I see blatant bias in this coverage it makes me question how often they get stories wrong on other subjects that I am unfamiliar with.

I want to be able to trust the media to give an accurate picture and when I drill down - I just can't too often and that hurts everyone.

What the article failed to note is that Kathy Cady has been filing motions of this sort all the time—and has according to the LA District Attorney’s office lost every single time.
Show this thread -
The problem is that while Cady can represent the victims, Blair explained, “The law is very clear that victims are not parties to the case.”

Moreover the article never disclosed her ties to the recall. So they presented one side as biased, but failed to show that the other side was just as biased if not more.
