We see believing is pisteuon and unbelieving is apeithon, which translates as not obeying. The opposite of believing is disobeying, as Scripture shows. We see this also in Romans, look at the first and last mentions of faith in Romans (Rom 1:5 & Rom 16:26)
At the end of the day ever single person saved was saved through Jesus Christ, including all of the OT heroes. But Christ can require of different people different things, such as circumcision post Moses, baptism post Resurrection. None of these guarantee salvation

If Christ had not yet made salvation possible (per your belief), how were OT people saved?

I think the point you made regarding Esau / Noah highlights the distinction between single-event salvation vs process salvation. If indeed salvation was a single event then a circumcised or baptized person being damned would be a big problem. No problem for process though.

Process salvation, eh? In Luke 19:9, "Jesus said to him (Zaccheus), 'Today salvation has come to this house...'" Shouldn't He have said, today salvation has begun, or today the process of salvation has started?
