Switch is a fitting place for this special edition since the game has thrived there, and Nintendo is the reason I fell in love with games in the first place (5 years old playing Mario Bros 3!). Super excited to get this into your hands.
I've been working on this game since 2016, and this is it: the last big announcement. Thanks for all the support the past 6 years, it has meant so much. ♥

So in a previous thread I wrote how it is VERY VERY hard to battle the algorithms and release a lot of small games on Steam. It is hard but not impossible. Here are some ways you might make it work! 👇👇👇🧵🧵🧵👇👇👇
the top 10 marketing questions for indies, and it was a fascinating discussion! We covered pricing, Tiktok, Discord, solo dev tips, and more. Check it out! #gamedev
This is the big plus of marrying an artist… you learn inspiring stuff like this constantly. And you better believe this sentiment applies to indie games. :)
A sculpture by Daniele Sigalot:
“I wanted to see what happened if I put all the bad ideas I have ever had in my life, in one single room. Would all these crumpled papers turn from bad to good, once they joined forces? Is the repetition of failure, a success?”

Oh sweet, Quake on Switch. My nightly gaming session actually has been Duke Nukem 3D as of late, so I love revisiting these classics on a portable. Confession time: I've played lots of Quake 2-4, but only played like 10 minutes of Quake 1... pretty pumped to check it out.
's bee post yesterday, here is one of my favorite bits of Skyrim oral history - the myth of the treasure fox.
I've told this story before in talks/etc, but I don't think I've shared it with twitter. Here goes.
In the same day, I'll get a troll spamming my live chat saying I'm a piece of shit and making fun of how I breathe... and I'll also get a message like this. Thank you for the kind messages from the good people out there, I'm glad my efforts have helped in a small way.❤️
Gonna stream and talk about/critique some Steam pages, tags, the two big sales events and my sales data, etc. Should be fun! If you have a Steam page, post it in the chat and I'll try to take a look. #gamedev
Hey #indiedev#gamedev, I turned down a pretty big publishing contract today for about half a million in total investment (I'm a solo dev). They genuinely wanted to work with me, but couldn't see what was exploitative about the terms. I'm not under an NDA, wanna talk about it? 👀
Two big Steam sales back-to-back, thought I'd share the graph. Being on page 1 on the sale page (half-way down) makes a huge difference obviously. Being initially hidden like on the Tiny Teams page (you have to expand a window to see my game) is a 1:4 difference. #gamedev
Do you ever fancy ditching your long-in-development game and just rapidly release lots of smaller games on Steam? It is called a "rapid release" strategy and it won't work. here is why ... 1/16 🧵🧵🧵🧵👇👇👇
It’s comforting so many other devs resonate with this line of thinking. I think the big reason for my mental health decline has been making my face a brand, so I can support my family. A (unnecessary?) trade off
The need to be special, get noticed, gain followers - especially in order to sell games - is not good for the mind. It's the exact opposite of a healthy mental/spiritual state.
This is something I'm interesting in reconciling whilst still making games. Any thoughts?

The First Tree is part of this! I love how many small teams there are making their dream games come to life. BTW there's supposed to be a discount, but it's not showing up... hopefully should be fixed soon.
Tiny Teams Festival is live on Steam NOW! We're streaming all week, and ALL our own games are on sale, plus some incredible games like Phasmophobia, Valheim, Rimworld and more. Not only that, there are loads of demos for upcoming games! https://yogsca.st/TinyTeams
Hi, your game is doing too much! DO LESS. Cut. Strip down. Simplify ~ the hardest & most important part of game design
Thread of great games that do less:
I have some thoughts about redeeming "failed" #indiegames. Yes sometimes your game is just bad, and you should move on. But in my experience, many times games are just victims of releasing in the wrong place, at the wrong time. A THREAD:
