What’s the earliest major historical event you can remember happening? (If you say 9/11, I’ll kill you for your youth) I have a vague recollection of playing in the lounge with my toys and my parents watching the Berlin Wall coming down on TV.

This has caught on nicely, some great memories. I’ll throw abouther one in the ring: I very clearly remember my geography teacher saying “ignore where it says USSR. It should be Russia now” when using the atlas!

You are SUCH a baby David! Mine is the US boycotting the Moscow Olympics in 1980.

You are both babies. It's the 1972 Olympics in Munich for me. That's when we aquired our first family TV set. Before that, TV had been one of the exciting aspects of visiting Oma.

We watched this live in grade school. It was an interesting experience to say the least.

The famine in Ethiopia. My dad covered my eyes so I couldn't see the images on the news but I still could hear Michael Burke's reporting.

Diana’s death. I went out to play in the street early and the neighbours kids were crying. They told me Diana had died. My childminder was called Diana so I started crying too. My parents thought it was hilarious.

Me too. I didn't realise princesses were real until this point. I thought they were only in fairytales 🤣
