Pricing is one of the biggest levers you can pull. I know from personal experience that we don't do it enough. It's scary, but it's essential. Experiment early and often. Don't be scared to find what works best for your specific app.

Getting paid is important. We're not just devs coding for the sake of code... We should be providing real value to people, so much in fact that they'd be willing to pay for it. If you're not, then they won't.

So many devs want to get as many people in their apps as possible. Your time would be better spent finding people who would gain immense value by using your app. These are people who would be bummed if your app no longer existed. People outside of that will be unwilling to pay.

The assumption that apps should be free really bums me out. Get rid of ads, provide value, and charge for your app. You want customers, not users.

I haven't spent a lot of time thinking about privacy and data, but the more I do, the more I realize that I'm not doing enough.

Turns out a lot more sites/apps are sending facebook than I thought. Apps with no social aspect to them. I imagine this is mostly due to sharing, but the fact that I don't know is what makes me upset. There's no way to opt-out either.

Facebook released a page for you to see the off-facebook activity they have on you. It's under settings > Your facebook information > Off-facebook activity or click here:

Hey , would you mind explaining to me why you're sending ANY information to Facebook about me? You're my bank, and I don't expect any kind of sharing to be happening here. I don't even use the same email address for my account that I do on FB.

There are a lot of cool demos out there of what can do, but I don’t feel it is ready for even my simple app. It’s missing key features that result in subbing in UIKit. I 100% believe it’ll be THE WAY™️ in about a year or two, but right now? I’m not so sure.

I see this pattern is everywhere. Somethings are becoming centralized, while others are being decentralized. Businesses do this too. Think about banks, airlines, coffee shops. It’s everywhere!

Don’t even get me started on radio. Do people even listen to stations anymore or would they prefer downloading their favorite podcasts or stream their favorite playlist?

How about entertainment? Would you rather have cable and get every channel under the sun, or subscribe to specific channels/shows via streaming service? My guess is you’re probably subscribed to many streaming services vs. 1 cable subscription.

How about work? Would you rather work in a big city for a big company? Or maybe you would rather work for a small company, or even start your own business and be self sufficient?

Twitter is way too big for its own good. How much better would it be if there were a social network for certain topics? This is starting to happen. How many topic specific slacks are you a part of? Or maybe you have a social account that you only use for a given topic?

These are all anecdotal observations, but I feel like I’m noticing a pattern. Does anyone else notice a constant tug of war between centralized and decentralized solutions? The answer is probably nuanced, but do you feel society becoming more decentralized, centralized, or both?

“You can certainly connect a Pro Display to it if you have one. If not, it's also magnetic so maybe stick your keys on it?” 😂😂

Humans are really good at pattern recognition. Intuition is a byproduct of consistent exposure to a given domain. In other words, the more time to spend in a particular space, the more patterns you start to recognize, the more confident you’ll be with your intuition.

Not that storyboards isn’t important, but how does anyone learn the APIs using them? Storyboards are great once you have a solid understanding of what it is doing for you behind the scenes.

I don’t understand why iOS learning materials have such a strong focus on storyboards. Beginners NEED to see code do the stuff. I wasted SO MUCH time with storyboards. Programmatic makes it all click.
