Environment & Climate Change Canada modelled an expected contribution of reducing emissions by 31% below 2005 levels by 2030, which falls short of Canada’s fair share of the global effort required to limit global warming to 1.5 C (which is 60%). It’s not enough. 5/6

At last year’s climate negotiations (COP26), for the first time, the Government of Canada promised to cap oil and gas sector emissions. This year’s #COP27 presents the perfect opportunity to announce strong targets for the emissions cap policy. 4/6

Climate science is crystal clear. To limit global warming within the margin evidence shows to be relatively safe (1.5 C) we must: ✔️ Immediately stop expanding oil and gas infrastructure. ✔️ Set a strong cap on oil and gas emissions and reduce that cap over time. 2/6
