I pay my taxes for common good. I believe in this. I would like a refund. $3.4 million can do a lot of community good. A Trump Super Bowl party for the rich & foreign agents.... notsomuch

Not exactly. E.g., smallpox had no non-human animal reservoir at the point Europeans infected Native Americans with it. Different trajectory, therefore. Also deplorable, but different. It's important not to blurr all these dire but complex things together into one vague outrage.

Here's a wonderfully clear, sober piece from on the basic reproduction number, R-nought, of the Wuhan virus—explaining the concept & the current data: Understanding R-nought is crucial to understanding the progress of an epidemic.

I get this question pretty much on a weekly basis. Most commonly used style guides for writing for mass communications (eg AP/Chicago) use the title Dr for medical doctors only. It makes sense.

Superb writing in 's own inimitable style: "Outbreaks of new viral diseases are like the steel balls in a pinball machine: You can slap your flippers at them, rock the machine on its legs & bonk the balls to the jittery rings, but where they end up dropping depends..

"Not even Mr. Schiff's Republican colleagues were allowed into the SCIF." Again, this is just a clear lie and everybody saw numerous Republican members being in the depositions and asking questions. Their channelling Trump. Just openly lying.
