“I blocked witnesses and evidence and now can’t convict.”

Such a beautiful tribute to a tremendous public servant. As Todd’s brother Bob said: “For a guy who spent so much of his life unable to walk, you left some incredibly big shoes to fill.” We will never forget your service, or your courage, Todd.

Lamar Alexander has provided the latest example: you can either defy Trump, or you can render yourself a coward and a fool before the entire country. Trump's anger will pass quickly. The nation's harsh judgment will be permanent. You choose.

I mean, the city is named after the other state. So confusing...up to about 7 years old.

Some mistakes can’t be corrected. Sort of like being impeached.

Thank you Pete Kadens. This is wonderful.

We learned today that Trump’s plan re Zelensky began in at least May. Portman met w Zelensky in May—Sondland and Perry were there. Portman just voted to hide documents and muzzle witnesses that could tell us more about that critical meeting he was part of, and what followed.

Portman just violated his oath of impartiality—he voted against hearing from witnesses that could’ve cast light on his own direct involvement in the Ukraine scandal and an attempt to cover it up. A deeply unethical act.

Saying something was bad, but not impeachable, has no relevance to the question of whether additonal witnesses should be allowed. If you admit it’s bad, then you should be asking how bad. And to ask how bad, you need evidence and witnesses.

Receipts of Portman being up to his ears in Ukraine all year long. Strange timing that after years of non-stop tweets about founding and chairing the Senate’s Ukraine Caucus, since Sept. 8.....hasn’t tweeted that title once. Sept. 8. Wonder what made him go silent.

On 9/12, Portman tweeted that he had called Trump the evening before to ask that the aid be released, and that he appreciated the President doing so. He said Trump had said European countries had not been providing sufficient help, a position Portman “strongly support[ed]" 11/

We also learned this week that he was in on the meeting that included Perry, Zelensky, Volker, Sondland and Ron Johnson. Everyone else in that meeting would later know intimate details about what was happening. Portman still claims he did not. 9/

The senator has been an active participant in Ukraine policy for years—calling for the same anti-corruption steps as VP Biden did in a 2016 letter, pressing for aid, and meeting with all the key players in 2019, including Zelensky and former Ambassadors Yonavovich & Volker 7/

Unlike others, Portman’s involvement runs far deeper than that. Until several months ago, Portman proudly touted that he founded and chairs the Senate’s Ukraine Caucus. 6/
