    Billionaires can afford to lose money on an operating basis with the hope that asset appreciation will be the pay off. And in the meantime, they get to be in the room where they think it happens.

    Sure feels like there a lot of billionaires bidding for the Mets, especially when you consider that the baseball industry “isn’t very profitable, to be quite honest.”

    Or it means they are trying to justify trades and prove people wrong. I know this because I have tried this.

    If the Marlins have Lewin Díaz on the 30-man to start the season, along with Monte’ Harrison, it’s an obvious deviation from the last two years. Makes you wonder if the roadmap is shifting just a bit. It would also seemingly indicate they are indeed playing to win right now.
