Yeah, for the last month I've been taking the bros to task on theory of change and tone and what not (no, m4a via reconciliation isn't happening. yes, representation matters. no, trolling isn't effective. no, no one is bending the knee.) But it's the centrists who deserve ire./2

I'm a Deaniac. We were the first big counter-centrist progressive wave. We pioneered online fundraising, distributed campaigns, blogging, dem-on-dem primaries. Everything the modern left swims in like fish in water. Most of us were Bernie in 2016. But we saw the damage. /3

We saw how the party we had gotten involved to build and fix--inspired by the 50 state strategy--was being torn asunder. Race vs gender vs class. Young vs old. Geography. It couldn't happen again. We needed someone who could unite the factions. And we wanted Warren in '16! /4

It seemed obvious, given Trump, that we couldn't let it happen again. It seemed obvious that Trump had leveraged some class issues to win, and Clinton hadn't delivered on those. But it also seemed obvious that we needed to tackle racism & sexism head on, independent of class. /5

We needed someone who could do both. Who could speak the language of both sides. Who had plans to deliver. Who had policy acumen *and* charisma, not just white papers or a bully pulpit army. We have that person in Elizabeth Warren. She is really fantastic. But.../6

We knew that a lot of Sanders loyalists weren't going to settle for anyone else. No problem. New waves are like that. (They don't think they're waves, they think they're first ever Grand Revolution. Lol. They'll learn and adapt.) But it's the Clinton centrists who refused. /7

The attacks from Sanders surrogates were annoying, but actually pretty mild. And the Sanders-to-Warren folks didn't take the bait. We stayed loyal and firm. But the Buttigieg and Biden crowd were relentless. Terrified of her. Scraping her up and down. /8

Buttigieg surged at Warren's expense. Klobuchar did a bit likewise If you take half of Buttigieg's and Klobuchar's votes and give them to Warren, she leads the field and is the nominee. Which is how the polls were just little while ago. But...Clinton '16 centrists lol. /9

So now, unless Warren gets a big boost at the end and a lot of second choice caucusgoers in Iowa, it's looking more like Bernie versus Biden. Bernie is gonna win plurality in Iowa, and probably NH. Will that be divisive as heck? Absolutely. But not the Berners' fault! /10

All the people who talked a big game in 2016 about feminism and representation and all that, decided to stab Warren in the back and give their backing to...a couple of dudes like Mr. McKenzie and D-MBNA. Wow. Just wow. Nice job, y'all. Nice job. /11

Berners love this image of a grim reaper hitting campaign doors, assassination style. Makes them feel smug, tough, whatever. It's shitty Trumpian politics and they really deserve to lose for it. But it doesn't matter because that's not what happened. It was Clinton folks. /12

And what's most insulting about it is that a TON of us still have deep scars from being called sexists, racists and every other name in the book for backing Bernie in 2016. The Clinton folks lost. Gave us Trump. And blamed us for it! And STILL we held out the olive branch. /13

Young people are getting screwed. Planet burning. People dying without healthcare. Student debt and housing out of control. A massive generational theft taking place while young people are told *their* candidates are divisive. And still the Deaniacs held out the peace pipe. /14
Prikaži ovu nit -
By all that is holy. We're in this thing for the party. For unity. For policy. The Berners are gonna realize how hard this stuff is, how faulty their theory of change, if he becomes POTUS. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. It will be a mentoring opportunity. BUT.../15

If Warren can't pull it out in the early states and make a bounce back, by god there will not be another hand in outreach again. Y'all responded to your failure with Clinton by dissing Warren and doubling down on...Buttigieg. Holy hell. /16
Prikaži ovu nit -
If Warren can't clear the big numerical hurdles coming up, the Deaniacs will come in behind Sanders, and hard. And this time we aren't gonna hear the complaints. Because they're empty. Totally. Utterly. Empty. We tried, dammit. We really tried. /end

Lol at the number of berners coming into this thread to take silly potshots. Y'all aren't very good at this and it shows.
