The guy who wrote that article was the comm. director for Vice President Dan Quayle - a true warrior of the Christian right, which starting in the late 1970s began taking over the GOP. The Koch & big oil played a big role, sure. But his narrative disappears an entire movement.

Yeah, the guy hanging around outside my congressperson's health care town hall with an AR-15 made quite an impression, along with the Tea Party types inside who were determined to shout down anyone who disagreed with them.

Agree. If my memory serves, it was also when
@nra & the tea party began their “affiliation.” People with several guns strapped to them were literally standing on corners with signs, picketing, and having parades in my city.
