You really think Rs wouldn’t have changed the rules in 2017 if Ds hadn’t in 2013?

They could only lose two. Not sure McCain, Collins and Murky go along with it. McCain and Collins were part of the Gang of 14 in 2005, and Murky owes nothing to the right anymore.
-
Not necessarily Disagreeing but lets say the 2017 majority was slightly larger ~55 or so, does Mitch push this?
-
Yeah, that's more likely
-
Mitch is an institutionalist. I’m going to take the under on this one.

I didn't have to happen. Some are glad it happened but it did not have to happen.

BS argument, sorry. 1. Republicans were blocking ALL Obama's appellate nominees for some appeals courts. 2. Republicans refused to confirm ANY director of CFPB. 3. McConnell almost certainly would have nuked judicial filibuster anyway.
-
Your first two rejoinders are debatable. Your third is not compelling at all.
-
Why? Reps almost nuked judicial filibuster under Frist in mid-2000s; the two parties only became more polarized since. And we see how important judicial nominations are to McConnell.
-
McConnell is a man of the Senate and has no delusions about changes in the partisan balance. The dems especially
@SenJeffMerkley lost track of the flip that occurs like clockwork since 1980 every 6 to 8 years. -
That’s why he killed the Supreme Court filibuster? :) Please. Judicial filibuster’s days were numbered anyway.
-
And the dems will live to regret it because the filibuster was a problem for right wing supreme court nominees not left wing.
-
Disagree. I am glad filibuster is gone.

In what world does McConnell not blow up the nominee filibuster?
