Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza years ago but has still had to contend w/ ongoing attacks from the territory, that aspect seems to be glossed over in coverage of the conflict. (It helps explain Netanyahu's durability in otherwise very volatile Israeli politics) =>https://twitter.com/benshapiro/status/996391164365365248 …

The entire problem with you and your ilk, those who justify every unnecessary massacre, those who place Israel above international law and rules of engagement, see this unilateral vacation of an occupied territory as a favour to the population indigenous to that territory.

And how do you hold them to account when you deny them nation-state status? The traditional ways of sanctioning deviant behaviour from established international law and norms becomes problematic in application.

The PLA/Hamas have turned down multiple opportunities. Recognize Israel's right to exist a majority Jewish state and give up right of return & there's a deal to be had on negotiated borders. Until those two things happen, there will not be any deal.

That they're are designated terrorist organisation is a sanction that places restrictions on the group, every attack they've carried has always been met with international outrage and condemnation, and the consequent disproportionate retaliation by the Israeli forces ignored
