Yes, his weekly televised press conferences have been a real addition to executive branch transparency.

-
His predecessors granted us formal pressers - but hardly often.
-
You mean, as opposed to never?
-
Yes, as opposed to just once since he took office, which I agree qualifies as never. But the amount of one-on-ones he has done, with credible outlets, is unusually high.
-
You mean, mainly with his designated press office, aka, Fox News? Or Christian Broadcasting? You may want to start your original tweet over...
-
He has talked w/ NYT, WSJ, WaPost, plenty - especially the NYT.
-
Not the same as letting voters see him answer ?s. In 1/1s no one *sees* him confused, filibuster, evasive. And "sit downs" get 25% attention
-
Fair enough. You make good points, although I don't think they undermine my point. But appreciate the feedback.

Maybe in some ways, but tough to defend that blanket statement when he never does a press conference. Easy to be accessible when you control who gets to ask questions and no follow-ups. To me access means willing to take on all comers.
-
It's a different sort of accessible, but it's hardly the stand-off at the OK coral that he portrays it as.
-
Fair enough but seems a bit too much like a despot in the way he controls it - i know semantics but you are very kind to call it accessible in the normal manner, but nothing these days is normal.
-
I didn't say it was normal. But my main point is that he does not hate media the way his supporters do - in fact, quite the opposite.
-
Thanks for the responses, enjoy watching you on CNN by the way - one of the down the middle good guys - cheers!
-
Thank you and anytime. Always happy to answer for my analysis.

Define "accessible". Twitter is not accessible, it's hiding. Press conferences make a President accessible
-
Granting one-on-one's, calling reporters out of the blue. He does this often, and he loves getting attn in MSM outlets.
-
One on ones with primarily FOX. Calling reporters out of the blue--only conservative media. Getting attn is not accessibility
-
He's given plenty of time to the NYT, WSJ, etc. Far more than his predecessors.
-
He's also so unguarded in so many of his interactions. (It's to the point that it's bad. He has no polish at all.)

Also ironic that media needs him to sell commercials.
-
Industry hazard regardless of who is POTUS.
-
Maybe but you’ll have a hard time finding another POTUS in the future that will drive ratings, website hits or new subscriptions like this one.
-
Probably. But we'll still have a job to do.
