Why is this "fascinating"? Scalia ruled the same way on a different statute and Scalia's ruling was the basis for this decision. All they are saying is that the law is vague and needs to be more specific. This is about the law, not about politics.
I always find it fascinating when the court doesn't rule according to conventional political assumptions, even though it make perfect sense legally.

Yes, I guess people who see everything through a political lens are surprised when they witness actions of those who don't. The notion that "vague laws lead to arbitrary power" isn't "liberal" or "conservative" in my opinion.
