Sure. Ryan wanted Ted Cruz, but he wouldn't have beat Hillary. Ryan thought Hillary would be his House foil. Got Trump instead, and found out he was in a tough spot between a non-traditional politician and the GOP establishment. Difficult, and not optimal

The only part I disagree w/ is I think Cruz would have beat her. After everything w/ the FBI probe and everything else - he would have.
-
Cruz was my guy, and he proved it again in
#Zuckerberg hearings, but I don't think Cruz would have swept WI, MI, and PA. Those margin were razor thin, pushed over by Reagan Dems/Obama voters. Don't think Cruz would have taken FL, either. -
By my count he would have taken FL and won close

Perhaps. We'll disagree on Cruz Voters (establishment GOP) being more motivated than Trump Voters (disaffected Tea Party folks and Rust Belt indies moved to vote JUST for him), and quibble on the math in between. But Trump is Godzilla destroying all in his path ...
-
Would left-driven culture on all fronts - politics, media, academia, entertainment - have gone THIS NUTS if Cruz beat Hillary? I doubt it. I think that's clarifying, and President Trump made it happen. He, like Godzilla, keeps crushing all in his path. I don't really mind.
-
I tend to think this is about how POTUS acts and that it doesn't really say much more than that, although I understand why it's cathartic for many.

“There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump,” McCarthy said, according to Entous, a superb reporter who heard a tape recording of the colloquy. “Swear to God.”pic.twitter.com/TsMXX0Xt6G

Paid? Sure. But Obama promised to be more flexible FOR FREE (to get Iran deal buy-in). If true, Putin's not getting his money's worth from Trump, who's Syria strikes have killed Russian mercs and has fracked like crazy, undermining Russian nat gas. For starters. Ok, though.
