It is finite - there's only one carrier that comes to my box every single day: USPS. That matters for cost. There's a reason UPS' least expensive offering is a handoff to USPS for the final mile.

Other shipping companies can do the job - I've been in the shipping business. And the point is, as long as their price is the best, they'll get the business. But Amaz can go elsewhere. There are competitors.

Yes, other shippers can do the job, but none has already sunk the cost of delivering everywhere in the USA 6 days a week. In the end it's about cost and price.

Other shippers go everywhere & for the right price, at any day or time. My point was that you're right about USPS competitiveness...as long as they remain competitive in terms of $$$.

I think we mostly see it the same way. My only point is USPS has already sunk the cost of delivering everywhere everyday, thus can be more cost competitive for that portion of the job.

I haven't received a package from Amazon using USPS in at least a year. Don't people know that Amazon has it's own expanding delivery service? Does KY want the new air cargo hub to go away?http://money.cnn.com/2018/01/18/news/companies/amazon-hq-prime-air-cvg-expansion/index.html …

in '06, GOP passed a law that USPS has to hold benefits in full for future retirees which no other company has to do. If not for this, USPS would be profitable across the board. This is not about USPS or Amazon, it's WAPO.

Why so sensitive on corporate behomoth Amazon? They're a Monopoly. Don't care what they try - Trump and his team should break up the Company. Should break up Google and Facebook too while he's at it. Then put a one-time Wealth Tax on those guys...

When did a President ever attack a single company? If there’s a problem with Amazons size, use antitrust laws. This is just reckless.

No company besides the USPS is going to take a loss in order to get Amazon's business. Amazon spent $13 million lobbying the government for discounts and favorable treatment just last year, that's not how the private market works.

Trump is an ignorant, delusional, psycho. USPS contracts air transport with Fed Ex, UPS, Fed Ex, DHL, TNT all have mutual relationships internationally. Amazon is a bulk shipper. Such big players get advantageous rates because they can commit volumes on a reliable basis.

Amazon will soon just cut USPS completely either with successful drone development or their own USPS-style service. They've improved every aspect of supply chain through innovation and cost reduction. The extension to final delivery can't be something they haven't considered.
