“Trump’s attacks on Congressional Republicans aren't strategic. Every time he criticizes Congress without singling out Democrats, he's hurting a Republican's chances of getting re-elected.”https://washex.am/2q3xr8E
Maybe it does. Maybe Trump also is responsible. Maybe he could have been more effective at doing his part.

So he nominates an ambassador to Germany, McConnell won't even give the guy a vote, and Trump should do what? Bribe McConnell by giving his wife a cabinet post? Something really big like that? What's Trump's error here
-
That's one case. There's also the case where POTUS has been slow to hire. My point is both have been negligent. Not that Congress is great & POTUS is bad. Both have been negligent.
-
there are dozens of people waiting for confirmation votes. what's the rush to nominate more. if Trump stayed up all night and nominated 200 more, its the same problem as it is right now. this "both sides" thing completely ignores reality
-
Because these nominations are regularly handled in mass adjournment packages. The more you nominate the more you get.
-
you're saying its totally normal to hold up major ambassadors for months
-
In the last 10-20 years or so, it is normal but I wasn't making that point or excusing it. It shouldn't happen.
-
I don't believe that it is normal. I never remember a major confirmation taking this long other than Bolton under GWB
