The claim that "A gun in the home is more likely to be used against someone in the home than in an act of self-defense against an attacked" is built using the fact that 60% of all US annual gun deaths are suicides. If nobody in your house is suicidal, you're fine.

It’s not a claim, it’s actual data.

Data that consists mainly of suicides. When it's more common for a gun owner to decide to commit suicide than to be in a situation where they need to defend themselves, obviously a gun in the home is more likely to be used by the owner against themself than in self defense. 1/.

I'm growing to feel the same, with the caveat that there needs to be a cultural focus on the gravity of responsibility around ownership. And I feel very differently about any gun besides handguns and hunting rifles.
