Whoa: Koch-backed @ConcernedVets spent ~$25M in 2016 election; plans similar “multi-million dollar” effort in 2018 election targeting Dems, vets issues, and more http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/article/2647338  via @dcexaminer @DavidMDrucker

Story has been updated. Numbers are also over a two year cycle and most is not towards electoral activity.

From the updated story: "Concerned Veterans for America spent roughly $20 million in 2014 and $25 million in 2016, and executive director Dan Caldwell said Sunday the conservative group plans another “multi-million dollar” outlay in President Trump’s first midterm campaign."

To be clear those numbers reflect 2013-2014 and 2015-2016 not just 2014 and 2016 alone.

Got it. You may need to ask @DavidMDrucker for another correction/update then, because the text suggests those amounts were spent "in" the years indicated.

Hence I used the phrase "election cycle" as opposed to "election year" or "this year" But note, money spent last year on political activity are part of the 2018 election cycle.

David: you use "the 2018 cycle" language in your 1st graf, but use "in 2014" and "in 2016" in your 2nd graf. I understand Dan's clarification but the story is still unclear on this point.

I think it's pretty clear because I write what 2018 could look like based on the past. But I can see how it might confuse some. I'll update the story in a bit to add word "cycle" for each of those years.

Cycle or year, it's still a lot of money. Would love to see, for context, how much Dan's budget squares up against what VSOs are spending on VA reform, let alone progressive mil/vets groups (who likely have much less money than CVA).

If you factor in AFGE and other national unions which oppose our VA reform agenda - we are actually outgunned in terms of $$$.
