I agree. But because DACA is the underlying bill w/ a March deadline Trump can afford to drive a hard bargain. If there's no bill, he's no worse off generally speaking.

I think the only issue is that people don't like shutdowns as a tactic to achieve other goals. Was true of getting rid of Ocare in 2013 despite its unpopularity at the time.

March 5 deadline is not a hard deadline. Not sure that hurts Trump, since DACAns will still be agitating for a permanent fix.
