"s-hole" as a story is surviving longer than most in the Trump era. Five days and counting so far.

Again, David. We all agree with what Trump said. It's the key, defining issue. Trump has shifted the Overton window. The press can't push it back.

Country is split. Trump supporters and some significant # of Republicans beyond them no doubt agreed. Many others did not.

The frauds and propagandists at cnn can wail and gnash their teeth at what he said but it’s a question millions of people agree with, even if it was a bit vulgar

I'm not sure the standard is whether people agree. But I agree that many agree.

Politics IS Persuasion in a democracy. Saying things people en mass agree with, even if it’s a third rail issue is why and how trump is able to confound his opponents thus far.

True. But it doesn't mean that many more people disagree than agree. And it's very possible that that is the case.

Most of the people who disagree happen to be in the press or in the coprorate elite. Most normal people certainly don't disagree. Emma Lazarus was not a founder of our country. And even she MOST CERTAINLY did not mean non-European peoples should come in mass

David, most everyone agrees. That's why all of the New Yorkers move to Chappequa which is an hour outside of the city. What do you believe them when they say they 'move for the schools?' What does that really mean? It means they're moving to go to a Leave it to Beaver hood

I think trump should have one of his advisors write a speech explaining why he thinks that. Citizens should have a right to determine what kind of people come here. There’s a lot of ground to be gained here

There is nothing wrong with wanting to maintain your culture. Japan, China, Israel, Mexico, etc. do it. 75%+ of our immigrants should be Christians from Europe, Australia, etc.. Nothing wrong with that. Successful countries have supermajorities

It would be bizarre of me to show up in say Spain or China or Brazil and ask for citizenship or to live there for an extended period of time. I do not belong to their culture. They wouldn't want me. And that is their right. We have the same right.
