The last two Presidents in shutdown fights faced one or both Houses of Congress controlled by the other party...

True. Interesting that the president ended up w/ the political advantage each time.
-
But of questionable ability to map on to the present situation, given the realities of partisan control of Congress
-
Good point. I'm fascinated to see what happens here if there is actually a shutdown.

One party controls Washington. Can you include that in your analysis?
-
It's made clear in my story. This was one tweet. Interestingly enough, the last two presidents in shutdown fights came out on top despite shared control. There was basically no deference given to Congress.
-
I'd argue this administration and President doesn't know how to govern. They constantly defer to Congress. Keeping the government open is on Ryan and McConnell.

Um, or by any objective analysis, the GOP shut the government down then and they’re shutting it down now. But I guess that’s too hard for you to comprehend.
-
God forbid you actually called it like it is.
-
I don't think I'm off base, but appreciate the feedback.

The GOP controls the House, Senate, and Presidency. Don’t even entertain the notion that Trump could successfully blame Democrats. Poor reporting is the only way he’d be successful.
-
It’s not just you, this idiocy is so pervasive in the Press. It’s why the GOP never pays a price for scorched earth politics, why we got Trump, and why things are going to get so much worse.https://twitter.com/politico/status/953338587419947010 …

Easier to blame other party when other party controls Congress as GOP did during shutdown fights with Clinton and Obama.

1. GOP has FULL control of the govt 2. Trump has no credibility with anyone outside of his base. A shutdown fits in with the narrative of a chaotic, dysfunctional WH So the answer is "No."

Isn't the military excepted from shutdowns anyway?

No. Those were under divided government. This one wouldn’t be.

Good thing he’s thought of as honest & forthright or that could be a problem.
