In 2009/10, when Democrats were presented w/ all sorts of arguments/pitfalls again #Obamacare, they were going to vote for it because it was their kind of health care reform. So it goes for GOP in 2017 & tax bill.

Main difference: Obamacare was good for the country on the whole; the tax bill is not.

politically, the comparison is quite apt.

Democrats knew they would get hammered as a result of health care, did it because they thought it would help others. Republicans want tax cut because it would themselves. That is a huge difference.

Republicans believe this bill will be good for the country, but you remind me of conservatives back then who insisted to me that Obamacare pursued ACA as part of his evil socialist takeover.

How many congressman and women (who already had insurance) benefited from ACA while how many in Congress will benefit from the tax cut? Your equivalency is false.

When you’re right you’re right! With congress it’s whoever has the majority is the party that “wins”.

Good Lord. Giving millions access to healthcare is not equivalent to giving the rich more money, esp when borrowing from China to do it! People have lost their damn minds.

Both examples underscore a good rule of thumb for the modern two parties: R's are really passionate about tax cuts, D's are really passionate about expanding entitlements, particularly healthcare. Their passion gives them the will to press on with those bills.
