What's preventing this now? A new ACA-like bill, with input from all 535 in Congress, can be sold as both "repeal" & "replace"/"improve".

-
For one, Democrats won't support anything that is in any way shape or form, "repeal."
-
Whatever a GOP-led Cong passes they'll label "repeal". Whatever a Dem-led Cong might pass they'd call "improvement"/"repair". Spin is BS.
-
Doesn't work on health care. Too big, too complicated, too big a spotlight.
-
So: -GOP can only work w/ Dems if "repeal 1st" passes -Ds can't support repeal &the solution is "repeal 1st", THEN work together?!
-
There will be no working together because of the repeal issue - neither side will budget from it.
-
On that, we agree. I just don't see how the Dems making the first compromise helps their position. Like, at all.
-
It wouldn't. Both sides have no reason to compromise. This issue is political kryptonite w/ their bases.

Running against single payer in 2018 may actually help Republicans
-
Running against it with what? Obamacare?
-
The threat of single payer itself is probably enough to help with turnout.
-
Disagree but we might find out if you're right.
