People forget that the biggest tax increase in January was the payroll tax hike.
@StevenTDennis Except was not a tax hike in traditional sense, since $$ ends up back in people's hands via govt programs

@DavidMDrucker If you live long enough & govt doesnt welch. That was part of GOP reform - SS becomes an asset, like a 401K, that you own. -
@StevenTDennis Right. Just important to point out that much of the "payroll tax" is govt enforced savings for various purposes. Taxes diffnt -
.
@DavidMDrucker@StevenTDennis It's not govt enforced savings if the govt can welch on it. Fleming v Nestor: http://www.ssa.gov/history/nestor.html …

um
@DavidMDrucker, by that logic, there are never any tax hikes as long as govt spends the money -
@conncarroll Prob w/ payroll tax cut was that $$ sent back to taxpayer wasn't diminished. So became a subsidy financed by other taxpayers -
@DavidMDrucker keeping more of your paycheck is not a subsidy. -
@conncarroll Don't disagree,IF we're talking income taxes.But if $$ earmarked for SS/Medicare reduced,but payout isn't,someone is paying. -
@DavidMDrucker payroll taxes have paid for all general funding from day one. no different than any other tax. FDR has totally snowed you. -
@conncarroll Agree to disagree. -
@DavidMDrucker this was key disagreement among Rs in payroll tax extension debate. you are arguing for the Michele Bachmann side. -
@conncarroll OK, so I am. If she says the sky is blue I'm not going to say it's wrong just because she said it.
