It's that his chances of winning are minimal at this point. So might be better if there was context that acknowledged that. Because the real question now is what happens after he loses & doesn't have Cruz as a foil.

I live in Texas & he has friends of mine many of whom have never voted before engaged. Will he lose? Most likely. But he’s engaging people in politics who haven’t been before and getting people engaged in the process shouldn’t be met with snark. It’s inspiring even if he loses

If you actually listen to his speeches and go to his rallies/events, the vast majority of his message has nothing to do w/ Cruz. He's genuinely focused on finding and meeting the needs of the people he meets. Cruz has little to do w/ his overall message.

If you think O'Rourke's campaign has been using Cruz as a foil, you've not been watching the O'Rourke campaign. O'Rourke spends more time talking about what he will do and what he believes in then he spends talking about Ted Cruz.

A lot of the conversation around the campaign is about how awful Ted Cruz is, because he is an awful Senator. But that's not how O'Rourke's campaigned and it's not why so many people have been attracted to his campaign.
