If such votes hurt, yes, it will hurt her. More than any other Dem But I still haven’t seen a shred of empirical evidence that voting against the opposing party’s nominees hurts you, or voting for the opposing party’s nominees helps. In fact, she’ll get a bunch of cash today.https://twitter.com/DavidMDrucker/status/1047914019586281477 …

I remember canvassing northern Macomb Co for David Bonior. A common response: “I disagree w Bonior on X, Y, & F, think he’s dead wrong on A & Z, & he’s crazy for believing V.” “Who will you be voting for?” “Bonior. I know where he stands.” Less tix splitting now, but still

This will be a good test case. Aside from that still have to see where dust settles on this. Issue could be old news by the time voters vote.

Exactly. I think people have reasons for voting against someone that shift up until the election. What was constant wasn’t the issue, but that they wanted to vote against the candidate. Some exceptions on legislation, of course, but I don’t think confirmation votes cost much

Going out on a limb here but voting against something nearly 2/3 of your state supports is no way to win an election.
-
And the empirical evidence of that is…

...about four weeks away. In interim, please see multiple stories about new Sen polling, R enthusiasm, etc. Can argue in reverse too. Voting for something 60% of your state/district opposes is no way to win elections. For that evidence, please see '10 results for starters.

It would have been easier to just answer “I don’t have any.” It’s ok, no shame in that, because AFAICT, nobody else does either

She also can’t win without an enthusiastic Democratic base. This locks that down, plus Kav confirmation Saturday takes wind out of issue for Cramer. It’s the smart move as well as the right one.
