China has grand designs that go beyond GDP, & they don’t have elections every two years. It’s possible U.S. has a greater threshold for pain, but it’s hardly a guarantee. Trade policy that doesn’t account for this, & deep desire of Chinese to ‘save face,’ is problematic. =>https://twitter.com/DPAQreport/status/1043365279080820736 …
This is a good argument. But it requires more honest leadership about the threat, which is missing and a broad strategy that accounts for various consequences, which might not be. (IE on my list of sometimes nothing is better than something is the Iran Deal.)

The reality is that Trump, in his actual actions if not his words, is confronting our adversaries far stronger than any president since Reagan even more so than Reagan actually. Since the media is a "word" driven entity they cover it based on his words rather than his actions.

I could quibble here & there but my main disagreement is this: Words & actions both matter. Reagan was solid on both. Lack of action undermines lofty leadership. Lack of the words undermines effectiveness of actions.
