As president, Trump's sense of 'fairness' especially vis-a-vis himself, continues to rank above the concept of justice under the law. At least in terms of he discusses law enforcement matters. =>https://twitter.com/JamesAGagliano/status/1032585604222078977 …

As I asked James, do you think its right that Manafort goes to prison for life, yet Gates gets probation for the same crimes?

Maybe Manafort shouldn't have committed a crime then he wouldn't be in this position.

Manafort committed crimes and was found guilty and should go to prison. My point was around Gates committing the same crimes yet will likely get no prison. Do you agree with that?

I don't have a problem with it. Life is not fair. Ultimately we wouldn't be having this discussion if Manafort didn't commit a crime.

Gates stole from Manafort separate to any crimes Manafort committed. How would we not be talking about Gates crimes if not for Manaforts? Life it not fair, but the law is meant to be.

The law is meant to be just, not fair. ... If you have two crooks & the only way to get one of them is for the other to flip, that is fine. Among benefits, can help shutdown criminal enterprise.

Thats not what happened here. Mueller filed indictments against both Gates and Manafort, that means Mueller believed he had enough evidence on Manafort without Gates. He then dropped virtually ALL charges against Gates - going against DOJ plea policy.

How do you know that? Gates testimony was key and he might not have agreed to testify w/out a deal.

Because Mueller indicted BEFORE getting Gates cooperation. You cannot indict if you dont believe you have enough evidence to convict. Andy McCarthy has a good article on this.

I think we're talking past each other, or we just disagree. I'm going to just leave it here, but only because I have some work to get to. Appreciate your feedback.
