Clinton lied under oath.

...But the political problem was that he did something wrong & unseemly & lied to the American people about it. Lying under oath was an additional problem/violation.
-
And he was an elected official.
-
So what? POTUS was the nominee at the time but has since allegedly been caught making false statements about this. If the allegations hold up, he'll have made false statements as an elected official, if that's your standard.
-
Well, the prosecutor called Cohen a liar, no respect for the law, broke his oath as an atty. Also don't believe Muller hands off a Trump crime to SDNY. Lanky is out trying to raise money. He knows there is no crime.

Do you think maybe the Republican impeachment was a cynical political ploy whereas the investigation into Trump has revealed wrongdoing on a massive scale?
-
I think that's in the eye of the beholder. Rs didn't feel cynical back in the 1990s when they were after Clinton.
-
How much investigating—stemming from a real estate investigation—did it take to catch him in a lie about sex? Republicans may not feel cynical, but that’s kind of like racists who don’t feel racist.
-
This sounds similar to Trump supporters who says this is all about Russia collusion but instead ended up at an affair & campaign finance.
-
If it was only the Cohen thing, that’d be a good argument. Cohen’s just an outgrowth of an investigation that has found wrongdoing related to Russia on a mass scale. When investigating Trump it would be hard NOT to find financial crimes.

Wait, are you implying a bj in the White House and lying about it are in parallel with forcing an employee of the campaign to make an illegal payment as a cover up?
-
I'm inferring that the situations and arguments of partisans on both sides are similar.

Not condoning Clinton and Dems, and Clinton himself is a pig, but let’s make comparisons after Trump has testified under oath. And yeah, lying is lying, but an affair with an intern seems quaint compared to interfering with an election.
-
But today's news isn't about the Russia stuff. That could come, today's news is about conspiring to cover up an affair. And it wasn't really the affair w/ the intern that was the problem it was lying about it to voters.
-
Agreed, and lying under oath is what got Clinton. Let’s see Trump under oath before we can really make comparisons.
