I take @realDonaldTrump comments as Clinton/Bush/Obama have played Russia wrong. Our extreme partisanship also plays into Putin hand. Trump’s goal is to get what we want & to have Russia do what’s mutual beneficial on world stage, not to democratize Russia

The criticism of the previous administration is that it was too accommodating of Putin, & he took advantage. I think that is pretty accurate. Helsinki was more accommodation.

When has trump not been a rhetorical disaster!? Almost every address/interview/debate makes me cringe & wonder how he beat 16 competent candidates.
-
He's not always, actually, and part of the problem with yesterday was not what he said (he's said it before) but where he said it and who he was standing next to. I don't predict this hurts him w/ the base but it was a FP disaster.

It’s a longer news cycle than normal, that’s the extent of the disaster. I’m so over hysteria

It will fade from public rather quickly, I agree. Doesn't mean it won't have long-term implications. Same as Obama errors that long ago faded from public view.

pj media has analysis that I blv better aligns w/reality. Media sees what it wants to see. Also, I blv if u look at trump’s public remarks during tillerson compared to now w/Pompeo, you’ll see a shift in strategy.

Disagree - but fair enough. I can't speak for all of media. My analysis on these matters has been consistent through multiple presidents.

DC/elite class & Eurocrats have a romanticized global citizen narrative & wealth redistribution schemes which the average earthling inc China, Putin & Trump just don’t buy into.

Putin (China, etc) understands and respects strength. What happened yesterday was rhetorical capitulation. Foreign policy isn't voo-doo. POTUS messed up.
