Well, it has, it's a lot weaker, but even if it hadn't the rest of the world certainly has. America's greatest competitor and threat in the fifty years isn't Russia. It's gas state with a shrinking population and lacklustre economy. It poses a challenge to Estonia, not America.

Sure, but that's because America is also working to undermine its interests. Ukranian coups etc. If Russia was successful in installing an anti-American Canadian government America would respond. Let Russia be an important second tier power. & Concentrate on China.

If Germeny work with Russia, surely America can, especially given we have may have shared interests against an agressive China. Russia isn't just in Europe. It's also in Asia. It would be useful in any balancing Coalition. Obama realised this, so does Trump.
