Replying to @chesaboudin @Will_Bunch
I was arrested for a single murder in Alabama in 1999. My bond was $50,000, but felt like millions cause I didn’t have family support or friends. Yes, Money Bail needs to be done away with cause it just favors the “Haves” of the world.

Kind of only half of the argument. You have to make the case for how society is protected from people fleeing the jurisdiction. I am glad you were acquitted, if you were, but prison is not the worst place to keep people who did do murders until their trials.

How many people actually flee when they are out on bail?? That number is higher in the movies. It doesn’t happen as much. There is a lot at risk if the person does flee. The person is actually only in jail until the trial.

I don't know, honestly.

It is a small number because of the amount of money or property put up in high profile cases. Plus, they would have to have a pretty solid escape plan set up to avoid capture and that would cost a lot of money. Court cases also drag on longer when someone is out on bail
