@DavidLat I see that Deborah Cook from CA 6 has announced she is going Senior. Do you think Republican appointed Circuit judges are cognizant of providing the White House with an opportunity to appoint their successor while the Senate is controlled by R’s?

Any chance we will get nomination news out of SC, AZ or MS soon. States with two Repub. Senators where you wouldn’t expect protracted negotiations.
-
Or Georgia, Idaho, and South Dakota. I think with MS the delay was Cochran, who seems to be unfortunately suffering from dementia. Hyde-Smith could even use the CA5 seat to show that she has conservative bona fides by putting a young FedSoc member on the bench-think Jack Wilson.
-
For AZ, I hear there may be a presumptive nominee, but
@SenJohnMcCain's health issues are affecting timing. For MS, I think you're right re:@SenThadCochran contributing to the delay; it's a complex situation, and there was even talk of MS losing the seat. -
Quite frankly, I think MS should have lost the seat. At least with AZ and CA in CA9, roughly 3 congressional districts equals one judgeship. MS already has two, so with 4 districts they're a bit overrepresented. Give it to TX so Reed O'Connor can be promoted.
-
Also David, for SD, could you see the State AG Marty Jackley getting tapped for the seat if his gubernatorial campaign doesn't shake out?
