How would you pronounce "profit a pendre?" Apparently, I've been mispronouncing "subpoena."

Wow, that's a term I don't know (or recall) the meaning of, to say nothing of pronunciation!

Have also heard vor-DYER in MO and KS courts.
-
As a longtime student of the French language that makes my eyes and ears bleed.
-
Keep in mind that MO has a town called Bois D'Arc, pronounced BO-dark, as well as Versailles, pronounced ver-SAILS.
-
Then again, I guess it's better to pronounce the city of Detroit as we do now. It's not a 'day-twah' type of town, is it?
