Yeah, I'm not optimistic on that front at all. What's the incentive?

@7Summits2015@at100 It's a bifurcated labor market; top kids from top law schools are in demand. So are midlevel/senior associates. -
.
@7Summits2015@at100 Another story I'm working on wonders if there should be a pay bump, but starting with midlevel associates & going up. -
This senior associate would be in favor of that! But if I had to choose, I'd rather get a bonus.

Interesting! But wouldn't you rather get the extra cash guaranteed / earlier in year?
-
Sure, but what kind of bump in salary would a senior assoc (say 7-8th yr) get if NYC->190K? An extra 30K?
-
Probably, or maybe a bit more. But you could get a pay bump AND a bonus. ;-)

From your lips to my firm's managing partner's ears!!

@SoloPracticeU Time for#BIglaw to get real--look at earnings in the mid state areas. Same law, same quality, less ego, less $$$. -
There's some evidence that clients are turning away from Biglaw in favor of other options (boutiques, LPOs).
-
Perhaps County Bar Associations, corporate/commercial firms in the smaller towns need to basically advertise price?
-
As long as it doesn't sound like a cut on quality, sure.
-
It’s a cut in overhead, not quality of delivered goods. It’s an economic/geographic variable and expectation of income
