@DavidLat @Dahlialithwick Wait -- why is rich lawyers paying poor line-standers a bad thing? Not sure I agree with this premise.

@eriqgardner It's paying for access to government. Let the govt sell tickets if it wants; right now it's the private sector profiting. -
@eriqgardner And it's mainly companies making the money. I say do an online lottery for the public seats at#SCOTUS instead. -
@DavidLat A lottery would also mean that less interested folks get tickets. Wouldn't prevent scalping. -
@eriqgardner No, you'd require ID to enter the lottery & same ID to enter the court. Background checks too to prevent protesters.

@DavidLat@Dahlialithwick@mjs_DC Got to ask again: would televising the arguments really fix this? Many seem to pay the money to be there. -
@RichardMRe@DavidLat@mjs_DC It wouldn't solve the "problem"—but it would mitigate the travesty of access to justice to the highest bidder. -
@cristianafarias@DavidLat@RichardMRe@mjs_DC Access to SCOTUS oral args is not the justice-access travesty we need to be concerned about. -
@brucelaluz
@cristianafarias Agreed. I suggest financial incentives for lawyers willing to address the justice gap: http://wapo.st/1c87FH1
