Experts in #ediscovery: isn't it very tough to truly erase all data from a server (short of physical destruction)? http://politi.co/1Nl9Nbu

@DavidLat I understand her lawyer's letter to say she used a mail setting to delete older mail after 60 days. Not these forensic techniques.

@doncruse But Kendall also had the "no backup" language, which suggests more was done than standard auto-delete. http://politi.co/1Nl9Nbu

@DavidLat I read that backup language as being about something else. Any competent backup would be on different media than the main drive.

@doncruse He's claiming that discussion of 3rd party review would be "academic." I doubt we will ever see those emails.

@DavidLat - article quotes recovery attempts "would be anywhere from 90 to 95 percent successful" http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2015/03/11/could-the-benghazi-committee-recover-hillary-clintons-deleted-emails-almost-certainly/ …

@KrisWasserman @pbump Interesting; thanks! Although I think this was prior to David Kendall's "no backup" comments.

@RyanHallGomez Interesting - so not even the best forensic investigators could recover @HillaryClinton's emails if those steps were done?

@DavidLat @RyanHallGomez @HillaryClinton You re-write the drive with binary gibberish over 100 times. US military mandates a 50+ cycle.
