@DavidLat Doesn't the new ABA 509 standard require reporting how many JDs are employed in school-funded positions? Does that boost numbers?

@GoldbergLawDC I believe they're separately reported but still count for overall employment purposes; I defer to@Bob_Morse on this. -

@DavidLat@Bob_Morse -
@GoldbergLawDC@DavidLat Not sure. Doubt it would be "real legal" job: ft+lt, bar passage required or ft+LT were JD is advantage -
@Bob_Morse@GoldbergLawDC Categories like full-time & long-term are independent of whether school-funded; a school can fund such positions. -
@DavidLat@Bob_Morse The ABA blew it by allowing this. School-funded jobs are a great idea, but they shouldn't count as employment.

@OlegAlbert1@DavidLat@atlblog It's the best investment you could make if you use it wisely. -
@Bsegalis@DavidLat@atlblog From a pure "investment" side, it is not: http://taxprof.typepad.com/taxprof_blog/2009/11/schlunk-law-school-is-a-bad-investment.html …. -
@OlegAlbert1 I wasn't sure if@Bsegalis was referring to#lawschool generally or to what this parent is doing? -
@DavidLat@OlegAlbert1 Was talking about law school ed. It's a good investment if u cn take advntage of it. Not talking just tangible value -
@DavidLat@OlegAlbert1 But the parent's proposition is a bad deal all around. For all parties.

when my son was 18, I told a resto manager I would pay my son $5 an hour for the hours he let him work for free. It worked great
