Folks, with the way Democrats and the far left have painted the Kavanaugh nomination as their own "Flight 93" moment, and the absence of ANY corroborating details, there is no reason - none - to believe his anonymous accuser.

None of the normal reasons to think an accuser would be telling the truth apply here. It's anonymous, and "stop the nomination at all costs or people will suffer" has been the rallying cry.

Why not just delay the nomination until we can investigate? Why do we have to have the vote next week? Why is it so important that he replace Kennedy before the next session of the court begins? What is the worst that could happen with more vetting?

It’s bizarre that Republicans want him on the court with questions about his finances, his past in politics and this moral cloud sitting over his head. Why not just clear the air?

I'm with @DavidLat here; the questions about his finances don't strike me as particularly meaningful. I think the entire partisan nonsense on SCOTUS noms is a damn shame, and if I had my way, Garland would've had 90 votes.

Are you serious?!?!? He has thousands upon thousands of unexplained debt? My goodness, this is bad faith. You don’t want any of it explained?

I've got thousands in debt. I know plenty of people who have thousands in debt. He's bad at managing his finances ... why is this an issue? Unless there's some suggestion that he is or can be bought - and there isn't - it doesn't matter to me at all.

200K in credit card debt? Payments made on your mortgage by other people? Did it suddenly disappear on your disclosures as soon as you applied for a promotion? We literally have his financial disclosures and they’re very weird.

You honestly don’t care if a justice of the Supreme Court is financially compromised? Do you love wondering if people are bribing public officials? This is basic good government stuff. If he applied to work entry level at NSA, he’d be denied.

Of course I care if a justice is financially "compromised." I don't think having credit card debt is in the same neighborhood - and I really don't think an "independently wealthy folks only" standard is a good idea.

He addressed this in his written responses to @SenJudiciary Qs, & it was probably explored in the closed session of the #KavanaughHearings as well. I suspect that the Democrats would be making more of this if it were a real issue.http://bit.ly/2CXxwnn

The fact that Kavanaugh and the WH stories don’t line up (and that Kavanaugh has already stretched the truth under oath in written testimony) makes me think that it’s not innocent. This is fertile ground for investigation, IMO.https://www.yahoo.com/news/kavanaugh-contradicts-white-house-account-credit-card-debt-leaving-questions-234449883.html …
