That’s why I focus on the rhetoric in my Tweet. A headline was written to exploit the idea that these allegations on their face could exist on a continuum. That’s the operation of rape culture. It can still be untrue. But that’s a wholly different question.

This is trash. The allegations fall on the continuum from "sexual assault" to "attempted rape." The allegations are either true, or their not. IF TRUE: He must be stopped. IF NOT: He must be exonerated. IF "I DON'T KNOW YET": Then the vote must be postponed.

I see your points, @ElieNYC & @JosephPatrice, & I've deleted my earlier tweets. (But I do think the underlying op-ed by @RuthMarcus makes some fair points, the wording of her tweet aside.)
